What is MSM?

MSM, or methylsulphonylmethane, is a chemical compound naturally found in animal and plant tissues, including the human body. Most foods contain some MSM, but foods that are particularly rich in MSM include:

These foods are commonly given to dogs that have a home-cooked diet. Although it is found in most foods, your dog’s typical daily requirement for MSM may be more than what is found in his diet. This is especially true for dogs fed with commercial dog foods, which often do not have MSM added.
